Can you print in white ink?

Not all printers can print white ink. In fact, most don’t. White isn’t a PMS colour. It’s not achievable with CMYK print. There are only a few ways to get it. Most printers will block out the white area and print the colours around it.

Don’t create artwork with ‘white ink’ and send it to the printer hoping they will somehow see this invisible part of your artwork and then print it as you see it in your head. We can’t see something that isn’t there! Be clear about the results you are after and provide a mockup so we can see inside your head!

Tip #3: Maybe white foil will work for you?

You may find that white foil is a cheaper option for the result you are after. Again, show your mockup to the printer, they can help you check out the various options, advise on the results, and give you a range of quotes.

Tip #4: Maybe wide format print will work for you?

White print is more common on wide format printers. The most visible application is on clear vinyl stickers for windows. If you can achieve the result you are after by printing on clear vinyl, this could be the solution you are looking for. Our wide format printer is a flat bed printer, and can print on pretty much anything that is, well, flat! Try white ink on timber, glass, acrylic sheets and more for some pretty exciting results.
