The finished result is very similar to perfect binding. Sections of pages are folded together and the folded edge is perforated and glued into the cover. The glue comes through the perforations to hold the pages. Burst bound books lie flatter than perfect bound, but not as good as saddle stitched or lay flat duplex books.
